Congratulations on the success of Those Girls. Tell us a bit about how it all started?

Thank you! We have always had a passion for tea and American inspired beverages. But our idea to turn our passion into a business originally started over our homemade chai lattes. We were so in love with our delightful concoctions that we wanted to share them with the world. However, at the time it was the middle of Summer so we began trialling new exotic iced tea recipes to create the perfect Summer refreshments. A few months later we were sharing our tasty elixirs with Melbourne and we have now expanded into a winter range that allows us to offer delicious, bespoke beverages all year round.IMG_1506

You appeared recently on Shark Tank. What was that experience like and how has it changed?

Shark Tank was an amazing experience for us. Not only was it a great learning curve for us in terms of understanding how to pitch our business to potential investors but it also put us in a position that meant we had to understand every aspect of our business and where we wanted to take it. Since filming, we have had lots of positive changes, the main thing being that we now have an amazing investor on board – Steve Baxter. Steve provides great support and priceless business knowledge making him an incredible mentor to guide us on our journey. We couldn’t be happier having Steve on our team.

We love the Winter warmers you have. How did you come up with hot apple cider? Did you do a lot of experimenting?

We love our hot apple cider too! In fact, we drink a lot of our stock and are a little bit addicted 🙂 We first fell in love with hot apple cider in New York when we were there over the Winter. We would drink up to 5 cups a day because we loved it so much. But once we came back to Australia we couldn’t get it anywhere. So when the opportunity arose to be able to share such a delicious beverage with Australia, we were very excited and began developing our own recipe. It took us a while to get our secret recipe as we wanted the perfect combination of apples and spices, so it tasted just like apple pie.

We can come and visit you every Wednesday at the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market. What kind of reception have you had from the public at your stall?

Yes, we would love for everyone to come down and visit us at the Queen Vic Winter Night Market and taste our hot apple cider. We have had an overwhelming response from the public which has been amazing. We are really touched by the support Australia has shown us. It makes us so happy to know that our products can bring a smile to people’s faces and create enjoyment. The positive response has also motivated us to make sure that we keep offering great products and services because we don’t want to let our customers down!

What’s next for Those Girls?

We had originally planned to get our iced tea bottled for retail. However, we have now changed direction and are focusing on expanding our current model interstate to share our freshly brewed beverages with the rest of Australia. We are aiming to be in Sydney in the next few months which is really exciting as we have been asked a lot by Sydney Siders when they will be able to get our product. So keep an eye out Australia, we hope to see you all really soon!
