New York Fashion Week is back with a bang this year with Bobbi Brown creating numerous beauty looks for the Spring 2014 runways. Here’s Couturing’s roundup on the stunning makeup looks at Holmes & Yang, Misha Nonoo, Marissa Webb and WHiT.

Holmes & Yang

At the Holmes and Yang runway, the look aimed to embody both elegance and adventure to complement their collection of classic designs with new textures and lines. Makeup artists used bronze smoky eyes and nude lips and cheeks to suit the olive green, black, cream and navy colour scheme of the fashions.

The skin was prepped using Hydrating Face Cream and looked fresh and glowing with Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation and Foundation Stick to cover any blemishes. To add warmth to the skin, bronzing powder was dusted onto cheekbones. The focus of the beauty look was on the eyes, as artists used bronze brown eyeshadow shades in Raw Sugar and heavily lined the upper and lower lids with Long Wear Eye Pencil in ‘Jet’. To finish the standout eye look, mascara was brushed onto lashes and brows were neatly groomed with the Brow Kit. To keep the emphasis on the eyes, lips were painted in ‘Beige Gold’ Rich Lip Colour and glossed over with Nougat Lip Gloss.

Misha Nonoo

This sultry look was all about highlighting a kissable pout. Misha Nonoo’s collection featured sugary soft pastels in mints, lavenders and yellows to represent a natural yet strong woman. To complement Nonoo’s vision, the makeup look focuses on clean, fresh skin and a ‘popsicle’ stained lip.

The models’ skin was velvety and glowing as it was prepped with Hydrating Face Cream and concealed with Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation. The eyes were kept natural looking and brushed with ‘Nectar & Nude’ Eyeshadow. For subtle definition, the upper and lower rims were lined in ‘Espresso Ink Gel Eyeliner’ and lashes were coated with Smokey Eye Mascara. Cheeks were pretty and flushed with Pink Retouching Powder and Nude Pink Blush for a perfect spring-time look. The real masterpiece of the look however, was the bright pop of colour on the lips in ‘Blazing Red’ and ‘Miami Pink’ lipstick.

Marissa Webb

The beauty look at Marissa Webb was edgy with a glamourous twist to suit the brand’s aesthetic, which blends masculinity and femininity in its designs. The Spring collection includes intense red clothing and bubbles with both confidence and elegance. To capture the Marissa Webb ‘essence’, the makeup was designed to feature flawless, glowing skin, simple eyes and bold lips.

Skin was prepped with Hydrating Face Cream and Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation and then set with Finishing Powder in ‘Brightening Nudes’. The apples of cheeks were rosy with ‘Pink Retouching Powder’. Brows were naturally defined to frame the face using Blonde Brow Gel, while lids were kept bare looking in ‘Bone’ Eyeshadow. The upper rim was lightly lined with Black Ink Eye Line and finished with a soft sweep of ‘Everything Mascara’. Artists delivered the wow factor with the creation of orange-red lips using ‘Blazing Red Rich Lip Color’.

WHiT

The look at WHiT was colour saturated, fresh and fun to complement the vibrant, tropical designs. Skin was kept fresh and dewy looking with a sweep of bright Raspberry Art Stick applied to the apples of cheeks. The raspberry shade was the emphasis of the look as lips were painted in the same bright colour. To keep the focus on raspberry tones, eyes were coloured in earthy tones using both ‘Earth’ and ‘Birch’ Eye Shadow, and softly defined with liner on the upper rims and a sweep of Smokey Eye Mascara.
