Following a sell-out seven-month season in 2019, Random International’s unmissable Rain Room will reopen on Saturday 05 December, with pre-sale tickets available from 1 pm on Thursday 12 November, ahead of a public on- sale at 1 pm on Friday 13 November.

An international art sensation, Rain Room is a 100 square metre expanse of torrential rainfall. Allowing visitors to take centre stage in a mesmerising merging of art, technology and nature, this downpour somewhat magically responds to your presence and movement, resulting in an experience of being consumed by an intense rainstorm, all the while being completely protected from its forces.

Brought to Australia last August as part of Jackalope Hotel’s ambitious art collection, over 90,000 visitors “controlled the weather”, making it Melbourne’s most talked about – and Instagrammed – solo art exhibition of recent memory. Already the epitome of socially distant art – where small groups are encouraged to explore the work solo – Rain Room will reopen with groups of just 12 visitors (previously 18) inside the work at a time. With set session times and the Jackalope Pavilion perched in the open air on a rooftop in St Kilda, Rain Room delivers a contactless art experience, free from crowds, and with the option of booking private viewings.

Rain Room will resume offering child-friendly sessions – a smash hit last summer school holidays. Designed for families with children under 12, these special sessions introduce this unforgettable artwork to children in an interactive and fun format. Children are also invited to attend general sessions. For the season restart, adult ticket pricing has been reduced, and two new group ticket options added: Three + Me (save $17 on four adult tickets); Go Private (book an entire session for up to 12 people). Session formats have also been amended: previously 20 minutes – comprising 10 minutes in the work and 10 minutes observing from the perimeter – visitors can now enjoy a full 15 minutes uninterrupted under the rain.

Ticket Pricing: Adult $29, Youth $19, Family $89, Three + Me $99, Go Private $299
