One of Australia’s top designers, Dion Lee, showcased his Spring/Summer 2014 collection for the first time at New York Fashion Week last night. Lee once again partnered up with KMS California to create the hair look for his runway. This follows the brands collaborating for Lee’s 2012 London Fashion Week and this year’s Sydney Fashion Week show.
KMS California Hair Directors, Sophie Roberts and Wayne Chappell worked with Lee to create a subtle and soft look to work with the strong tailoring of the collection.
Speaking about the concept behind the look, Roberts said, “The hair this season is clean, fresh and modern. To bring out the natural beauty of each girl, the hair has been center-parted and blow dried smooth with a Mason Pearson. We wanted the hair to retain its vitality, so we lightly tousled the ends just before the girls walked on the runway. Effortless, minimal and cool.”
GET THE LOOK
1. Cleanse and condition hair with KMS California SILKSHEEN shampoo and SILKSHEEN conditioner.
2. Apply KMS California FREESHAPE quick blow dry from mid-lengths to ends to provide heat protection and light condition.
3. Comb and centre part hair to create direction.
4. Using a Mason Pearson brush, blow dry hair section y section with KMS HAIRPLAY playable texture for a light-airy texture and to help accentuate layers.
5. Comb a low side part at the arch of the left brow to the crown and comb hair at either side neatly tucked behind the ears to establish direction.
6. For further brushable hold, apply KMS HAIRSTAY medium hold hairspray to each section and lightly iron hair to seal cuticle, tame frizz and add shine.
7. To finish, mist hair with KMS anti humidity seal for added shine, with a weightless finish and 24 hour moisture seal.
8. Tuck hair behind ears and dress behind shoulders and gently tousle ends with a brush for an easy nonchalant look.
