Footscray foodies are getting set to celebrate new Americana-style “Smoke Joint”, retail deli and beer garden Up in Smoke, launching today, 28th January 2016. Brought to you by the team behind iconic burger joint 8bit, Up in Smoke will offer barbequed, smoked and slow-cooked meats, as well as a curated selection of imported and local craft beers.

Owners Shayne McCallum (notable chef formerly Blakes andCaptain Melville) and restaurateur Alan Sam, have again paired up in search of a site for a causal style eat in, or take away dinner, focusing on all things smoked.

With casual indoor seating for 60 pax, and street-side beer garden seating for 70 pax, Up In Smoke will also feature an adjoining retail store; selling coffee, fresh deli items, dry and small goods, meat for smoking and smoking accessories for the avid home smoker.

The eclectic Americana menu is based around the restaurant’s centrepiece, a $20,000 Texas Yoder Frontiersman offset smoker, which will be visible from the dining room and create the ambience of an authentic smoke house. The “Smalls” dishes include Tongue and Cheeks Croquettes, Meat Loaf Bun and Daily Tacos. “Smoker” items include Brisket, Pulled Pork, Beef Rib or Pork Rack, served with Milk Bun and Pickle. For a smoke side, choose from Mac & Cheese, Chilli Mayo Slaw, Burnt End Beans, and Old Bay Fries, to name just a few. The Grilled “Sandwiches” list includes The Cheech, with Pulled Pork Shoulder, Chilli Mayo Slaw and BBQ sauce. The Still Smokin’ includes burnt end brisket, beans, smoked cheese and hot sauce.

To wash it all down, international and local craft beers will be served from ten beer taps, and in bottled and canned varieties. The hard drinks list will offer whisky, bourbon and rum; as well as a small and fun cocktail list that will reflect the menu’s signature items.

Up In Smoke will be open 7 days a week, opening 11am to late. 28 Hopkins Street Footscray
