With the 90s supermodel silhouette a clear and cohesive influence throughout the collection, Kahlo’s SS14/15 offering was feminine and powerful.
Working in palette dominant in blacks, silvers and moss greens, the design duos spring summer line pushed the boundaries of the classic metallics, roughing them up and making them versatile in an entirely new way. ‘Daytime metallics’ filtered through jet black leather look pencil skirts and matte grey separates.
Basics took on luxurious new forms and textures. A black spaghetti strapped camisole was a lesson in the beauty of simplicity, while a pair of dropped crotch moss trousers in moss green suede becomes a modern update of a wardrobe necessity. Luxury fabrics such as rich leathers and metallics take on new form in boxy shift dresses, pedal pushes and boyfriend blazers.
Versatile separates are, as always, an essential. A collared shirt with a zip front- a fresh take on a wardrobe staple- is layered beneath a boxy black sheath dress. A sports inspired grey crop is paired with black midi skirt. Mint greens and pale silvers are ethereal and feminine whilst remaining edgy and strong.
A metallic blazer and shorts combo becomes our new must-have suiting alternative, styled back with a black crop and loafers but possessing the innate ability to be dressed up- perhaps with white silk and a simple heel. Each Kahlo piece truly “belongs” in the collection. No garment lies dormant- each piece is a must-have and serves its purpose within the collection.
