Planning the perfect getaway to Sydney? Accommodation is the foundation of a good getaway and we’ve found the perfect place for you. Whether you’re staying overnight or staying longer, The Langham Sydney is a great base for your Sydney getaway.

Balancing luxury, comfort and location, The Langham is located next to the Sydney Observatory. Just on the cusp of the CBD and the Harbour in the Rocks district, it’s the perfect spot to stay as it’s close enough to wander to the city and the main tourist sites and transport hubs, plus it also provides a quiet oasis for the perfect stay which is often a difficult proposition in a big city. Hop across the road and up the stairs to the Sydney Observatory for sweeping views of the city and the Harbour Bridge, and a skip in the other direction gets you a view of Darling Harbour.

The hotel has a lovely old school charm but balanced with modern opulence thanks to a recent refurbishment. Marble and wood detailing and a stunning chandelier greet you in the glorious entrance that gives way to the reception and lobby area that is spacious to relax and people watch.

The rooms are well appointed with all the mod cons that you could need. The deluxe king room is generously spacious with room to spread out and relax (space seems to be in short supply in big city hotels so this is definitely worth mentioning) and the king size bed is to die for – so comfortable that it makes you want to stay in it all day. Plenty of wardrobe space means you don’t have find hangers for all your clothes and whilst this might be a small detail, the room has an iron. I find that it’s the small details that help to make a stay more enjoyable and convenient so an iron or a few additional amenities in the bathroom help.  The bathroom is luxurious with marble finishing and a generous size bath – a nice way to unwind from a long day out, and most importantly a double sink.

If you stay at the Langham, make sure you take the time to visit the beautiful Observatory Bar. Opened in late 2018, the opulently elegant bar with a divine cocktail list, extensive wine list and a food offering that is both innovative and delicious.  For a delicious and visually appealing cocktail, the Flight cocktail – Gin, Rhubarb Shrub, Butterfly Pea and Pink Grapefruit tonic – is a marvellous blue drink that balances delicate flavours into a perfectly made cocktail. Try one of the bar dishes like the Beetroot Smoked Salmon or superb Mini Wagyu taco, they will round out your culinary experience at the Observatory Bar. Genuinely a place to go even if you don’t stay at the Langham. A lovely bar with a classy ambiance that will surely please the most hard to please.

I have stayed at many hotels in Sydney over the years and have stayed at this hotel in its previous incarnations so it’s lovely to see the recent refurbishment has made The Langham one of the definite go-to’s in Sydney. Space, location and luxury all rolled into one makes this an obvious choice for your consideration for your next Sydney getaway.
