RSPCA Victoria is calling on all animal lovers to get baking this August for its tastiest annual fundraiser, Cupcake Day. Sweet or savoury, all treats will be welcomed in offices, schools, and homes across the state with hundreds set to join the fight against animal cruelty by hosting their own event. Bakers can host a Cupcake Day anytime in August, with hosts encouraged to register their event online to receive host tools and resources to promote their event and get people involved, plus they will go into the running to win from an exciting list of prizes.

Hosts and participants will be baking the world a butter place for thousands of animals, as they’re encouraged to raise vital funds to support RSPCA Victoria’s ongoing work to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome neglected, abused, and homeless animals. RSPCA Victoria CEO Dr Liz Walker said every dollar raised helps fight animal cruelty across the state. “Animals make our lives better, and what easier way to help them than to share good treats with friends, family and colleagues while raising money for animals in need,” Dr Walker said.
“Our community provides funding for 90% of the RSPCA’s work in the state. Events like Cupcake Day are one way we can help care for our shelter animals, investigate reports of cruelty, provide community outreach programs to support pets and their people, and improve animal welfare.”

Those who lack confidence in their baking can still help fight animal cruelty by purchasing a ‘pupcake’ from major sponsor Ferguson Plarre, with $1 from every ‘pupcake’ sold from 1 st August until 2 nd September donated to RSPCA Victoria. Ferguson Plarre Director and Chief Executive Officer Steve Plarre said the company has proudly signed on as a major Victorian sponsor for Cupcake Day for the fourth year in a row. “We’re a family of animal lovers, so the ability to combine that with our passion for baking makes Cupcake Day even sweeter. Everyone at Ferguson Plarre is so proud to have the chance to support RSPCA Cupcake Day for the fourth time.” he says.

“It’s wonderful to know that every Pupcake sold during August helps to safeguard animals across our state and we know it’s something our customers love to support too.”
