If, like many Melburnians, you are about to make your pilgrimage down to Hobart to see MONA (and remind yourself that Melbourne isn’t that cold) then you will also undoubtedly need your caffeine fix.

When it comes to coffee, Melburnians have incredibly high standards (and why shouldn’t we?), luckily for us, Hobart knows the score.  Even with a cursory glace you can find a delicious coffee that could easily equal anything Melbourne has to offer.

This is by no means a definitive list to Hobart coffee, merely a jumping off point for you to start your caffeinated adventures.

Next Door Deluxe Coffee

This humble coffee house, whose walls are literally plastered with doors, may be small but don’t be deceived, its coffees pack a punch.  The mid morning peak hour can get a little hairy so try to avoid it.  Also if coffee isn’t your poison, Next Door Deluxe has an impressive tea assortment for you to paw through.

Doctor Coffee

Almost hidden on Salamanca Place, Doctor Coffee caters for quick take-away coffee as well as a sit down lunch.  Although there is a lack of white coats and stethoscopes, Doctor Coffee can fill your prescription with 200ccs of life-giving coffee.  Jokes aside, Doctor Coffee must be doing something right since they’re planning expansions to other Hobart locations.

Where more apt to go on your Hobart pilgrimage than Pilgrim Coffee? This newly opened café may not be on Google Street View yet but don’t let that stop you.  Pilgrim Coffee mixes sleek design with bare brick and stone to make a café that would fit in with Melbourne’s most trendy coffee dispensaries.  However Pilgrim Coffee isn’t all style, they bring the substance with high quality beans and expert delivery.
