Australia’s biggest craft beer celebration, the Great Australasian Beer Spectacular (GABS) is taking place this week from Friday, 27th May to Sunday, 29th May at the Royal Exhibition Building.
Now in it’s 11th year, the GABS Festival is renowned as one of the world’s leading beer experiences. GABS brings together the best breweries Australia and New Zealand for a whirlwind celebration of craft beer including 117 brand new festival beers brewed exclusively for GABS that won’t be found anywhere else in the world! You can see the full list here
The new beers are the cornerstone of GABS with brews inspired by breakfast treats, savoury snacks, fruity goodness, delicious desserts, classic cocktails and more. From craft beginners to the sophisticated palate, there’s something on the menu for everyone – think peanut butter, coffee, Earl Grey teat, chicken salt, pizza, gravy, fairy floss, bubble gum and sour gummi bears!
Melbourne’s festival highlights include:
  • Silent Disco – choose from 80s, RnB and Dance!
  • Balter Tins of Glory – Tinnie Hurling the world’s favourite beer sport invented by the brewery with the little green smile, is set to light up the GABS Festival events with qualifying rounds for the World Championships! This will be your chance to compete for glory plus loads of great prizes. The highest scoring team from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will all be off to Balter HQ on the Gold Coast for the World Championships!
  • Mountain Goat Cornhole Championship – The legends at Mountain Goat have developed their own take on the classic lawn game involving throwing bean bags at a tilted board with a hole in it. Grab a mate, choose your team name and get slingin’ them bags for a chance to win awesome prizes.
  • Bentspoke Roller Racing – BentSpoke 2022 Roller Racing glory is up for grabs! Join the race as riders go head to head for the best time on the day. Prizes include eternal GABS glory, BentSpoke merch, and of course beer.

  • Atomic Wheel of Pourtune – Born out of the Atomic Brewpub in Redfern, Wheel of Pourtune is our game show based off some of the best classic game shows like “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”, “Deal or No Deal” and “The Price Is Right!”.
  • Ballistic Paint & Sip – Take a seat, sip, and let your imagination pour through your paintbrush. In these sessions, you will receive a tasting paddle as well as all the other necessary equipment to get painting. Attendees are encouraged to take inspiration from Ballistic’s whimsical and extravagant still life centrepiece, which is based on their specially brewed GABS beer. The winning painting on each day will win a Ballistic Merch Pack and all pieces will go in with a chance to be featured on a future Ballistic Beer Co. can!
  • Silly Hat Sunday – If you’re heading to GABS for the Sunday afternoon session, be sure to doff your silliest headwear and join in the fun. The most creative hat-wearers might even get a chance to strut their stuff in the Fashions On The Field!
