David Jones kicked off the new season with the launch of Spring/Summer 13 in Sydney last Thursday with their new face, Jessica Gomes leading the charge down the runway.

Behind the scenes, shu uemura International Artistic Director, Mr Kakuyasu Uchiide, was weaving his beauty brilliance with the make up looks for the show. His concept for the show was Italian Riviera meets Poolside Glamour – looks that are elegant, glamorous and chic.
Couturing asked Mr Uchiide what he thinks the biggest makeup trends are for this season. For the eyes, he recommended shu uemura‘s Drawing Pencil in Gold and Black, paired with eyeshadows in pop colours, such as bright orange, pink and green. “For lips, red, pink and orange lipsticks are key shades for summer. Leave the complexion, fresh, clean and pure”.
When asked what the key shu uemura products that every girl needs, Mr Uchiide said, “the Eyelash Curler, Cleansing Oil and UVUB Under Base Mousse! Also look out for the Lightbulb Foundation, the latest innovation from shu uemura, due out in September”.
Mr Uchiide created two make up looks to complement the show, basing it on what he thinks is hot for the new season. Both looks are easy to achieve at home to bring out your inner goddess.
Look 1: Parisian Chic
The first look embraces the feeling of a balmy night by using shu uemura’s chic colour palette to enhance your beauty. A dark winged eye,embellished with a dash of gold on the lid, highlights the eyes under lights, complimented with a soft sheer glow on the cheek and a matt nude lip.
1. Using your fingers, gently massage Instant Glow Stage Performer all over the face.
2. Using Brush 18, apply Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation and conceal under the eyes and any imperfections if necessary.
3. Using Natural Brush 20h, apply Glow On Medium Bronze P780 to the contour of the cheek.
4. Draw a thick line using Painting Liner in Gold, then draw a thinner black line using Painting Liner in Black and flick it out to define the shape of the eye.
5. Define brows with Hard Formula in Brown.
6. Using a Kolinsky Lip Brush, apply Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte BG930 over the lips.
7. Use the Eyelash Curler to curl the lashes and then apply Ultimate Natural Mascara in Black to the top lashes.
8. To complete the look, paint the nails with Nail Color in Pink Champagne Gold.
Look 2: Pool Side Glamour
The second look Mr Uchiide created is a more youthful and fun look, for the girl that spends long languid days by the pool. With elegant lashes and glossy lips, the look is perfect for taking you through from day to night.
1. Using your fingers, gently massage Instant Glow Stage Performer all over the face.
2. Using Brush 18, apply Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation and conceal under the eyes and any imperfections if necessary.
3. Using Natural Brush 20h, apply Glow On P540 Soft Orange to the contour of your the cheek
4. Using Kolinsky Sable Brush 10, press Pressed Eye Shadow Soft Gold ME335 eye shadow all over the lids, fill the upper lash line with Painting Liner in Black and draw along the lower rim with Drawing Pencil in ME Pink
5. Gently remove Slant Black False Eyelashes from the platform, apply a few drops of the Eyelash Adhesive to the base of the false lashes. Apply the false lashes along your lash line, waiting for 5-6 seconds for the adhesive to dry
6. Apply a light coat of Ultimate Natural Mascara in Black
7. Apply Gloss Unlimited BR10S on the lips
8. To complete the look, paint the nails with Nail Color in Orange Sapphire
