Chadstone, our very own fashion capital, has made a fitting host for 4 of the world’s most iconic style icons. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda- names synonymous with New York City Style and the voices of a generation of fashion-passionate, strong career women. In a world first, 20 full outfits from award winning comedy Sex & the City are being showcased in an exclusive exhibition, curated by the show’s own Academy Award nominated and Emmy Award winning costume director, Patricia Field.

Highlights of this pedestrian-stopping exhibition are THE precious ‘Carrie’ necklace, the star’s Vivienne Westwood wedding gown and its accompanying array of Zac Posen bridesmaids gowns, the black diamond, the white vintage piece that saw Ms Bradshaw finally spring to life on the big screen in the first Sex & the City movie, and the Versace Haute Couture gown in which we saw Carrie get stood up in Paris by Aleksander Petrovsky and our hearts collectively broke.

Seeing these gowns in the flesh (or fabric, rather) provides onlookers with a true testament to Patricia Field’s creative talent. To dress one woman for every occasion in pieces that suit both her figure and personality is nothing short of extraordinary. To dress four completely different women? A gift. From the directional and trend-setting Carrie, the sultry and ultra confident Samantha, the feminine and classic Charlotte to the slightly more androgynous and conservative (not in that plunging black embellished Julien Macdonald number, mind you!) Miranda, Patricia Field had all bases covered, and some.

Make sure you head to Chadstone Shopping Centre’s designer precinct before March 31 to bare witness to fashion history in its purest form, and for the chance to WIN your very own Carrie-style black diamond ring, courtesy of Anton Jewellers.
