The final two Designer runways for Melbourne Spring Fashion week 2013 brought the fantastic week to an end with two inspiring beauty looks.

DESIGNER RUNWAY 4

KEVIN.MURPHY impressed show-goers with an incredible hair creation inspired by the native Australian plant, the Spear Lily, for Designer Runway 4.

“In this show the clothes have an unusual simplicity with bold colours and techno prints, so the hair needed to have an avant garde attitude to match the urban designs,” said Hair Director, Kevin Murphy.

“I wanted the hair to be sharp and defined, with modern echoes of grunge. The straightness of the hair is exaggerated and has leaf-like texture to it; allowing it to splay outwards and bounce as the model walks down the runway.”

The hair look perfectly matched the cool fashion it was paired with – with the show featuring the latest contemporary designs from Alpha60, Gorman, Honor Among Thieves, Búl and Jolet.

As previewed during our sneak peak of MSFW beauty looks [click here to read more], the make look by Mecca Cosmetica Make up director, Kenneth Higgins was “Gritty Pretty”. The look was rock chic but with a slick modern edge. Metallic shadow created  a dramatic eye which was the focus for the look, leaving lips with a subtle gloss. Kenneth used the newly released Stila Magnificent Foil Finish Eyeshadow in Vintage Black Gold Metallic and Sunday Riley Gloss in Chameleon.

DESIGNER RESORT RUNWAY

The last Designer Runway of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week was the hottest yet, with Resort showcasing a range of glamorous swimwear from designers such as Seafolly, Wayne Cooper, Limedrop, Maidenlove and We Are Handsome. The Resort runway featured bold, bright and colourful swimwear.

Kevin Murphy chose a 1980’s summertime look to complement the beach-ready patterns and textures of the collections. He created  creating a style that was artfully messy with a wet, dewy finish. “To match the hair with the theme of the show, I wanted it to look like the models were actually on a beach holiday,” says Murphy.  “I’m loving short hair at the moment and a heavy 80’s fringe worked really well with the swimwear, as it gave the look a more fun and relaxed vibe”

To fit within the resort theme, Mecca’s Kenneth Higgins created the “Palm Springs Chic” look, drawing inspiration from pool side, beach front glamour. Personifying this in makeup, Higgins used created glowing sun kissed skin with coral lips, and eyes layered with bronze and gold. Key products used to create this look included Stila Stay All Day Bronzing Beauty Balm to create the sun kissed skin,  Sunday Riley Prismasilik Eyeshadow in Fools Gold NARS Cream Eyeshadow in Corfu, and NARS Lipstick in Heatwave.
