For shoes with substance, style and a fun-loving personality, Mara & Mine is the ultimate collection of wearable, on-trend shoes for the modern day Imelda.

Fashionable, unique, stylish and comfortable aren’t usually words you would use all in the same sentence to describe shoes. But for Aussie duo Jasmine Yarbrough and Tamie Ingham that was exactly the dream they had whist holidaying on the Amalfi Coast in Italy – to create gorgeous, fashion forward footwear that was comfortable. Mara & Mine is the result of their ambitions,

a shoe brand that exclusively makes flats with a distinct, quirky edge.

Jasmine and Tamie met whilst working in fashion, Jasmine as an international model and Tamie
as a stylist. They became close friends, working and travelling around the world together. One essential that both were missing from their wardrobes were shoes that looked great but that were also practical for their hectic schedules. On one particular trip to Italy, the girls were taken by the abundance of supremely elegant, well dressed Italian women– all wearing amazing flats.

Now based in Los Angeles, these two creative Aussies have developed their own unique take on fashionable flats with their label Mara & Mine. Launching their pre-release collection in 2012 with the now infamous Jem Skull Slipper, Mara & Mine have developed a covetable collection of shoes including slippers, sandals and cut-out flats that have garnered somewhat of a cult following.

Seen on the world’s hottest and most photographed models and celebrities including; Abbie Lee Kershaw, Cara Delevigne, Chanel Iman and Kourtney Kardashian just to name a few, Mara & Mine have firmly cemented their status as the IT shoe brand to watch. And it’s not just the celebrity following that has made these the most in demand shoes of the moment.

Mara & Mine shoes are hand crafted in Los Angeles using the finest leathers and fabrics sourced
in Italy and Spain. All of the embellishments, including the quirky metal spines and skeletons, have been purposefully designed by Tamie and Jasmine and are also made in Los Angeles. As a result, Mara & Mine’s collections are of superior quality and most importantly, are exceptionally comfortable to wear. The linings are finished with premium suede and lamb skin, which feels buttery soft against the skin whilst adding a finishing touch of luxury.

Tamie and Jasmine are clearly influenced by their travels, with the current Mara & Mine collection referencing a trip to Cabo, Mexico. The pair were drawn to the recurrent skull theme synonymous with the Mexican Day of the Dead festival, and the bright, lively colours of the streetscapes. The result is a playful, edgy collection featuring the Jem Skull Slippers embroidered with foot bones, bone hardware and embellishments, fluorescent sandals and a Mexican blanket inspired print.

The Mara & Mine slippers are classics, set to be a brand staple with new colours and designs released each season. They are a comfy and versatile wardrobe must-have that can be paired with everything from flirty dresses, leather pants to denim shorts, perfectly capturing the cheeky Mara & Mine aesthetic. Tamie and Jasmine have recently travelled to the Bahamas, which lends itself to a whole new world of inspiration for the upcoming Spring Summer 2014 collection due for release in March. With whispers of tropical motifs including palm leaves, banana leaves, pineapples and toucans, the Mara & Mine story is only just beginning.
