rosabotanica

Balenciaga has followed the release of its successful fragrance Florabotanica with its second perfume Rosabotanica. Carrying on  the concept created during Florabotanica of being in Balenciaga’s ‘magical garden’, Rosabotanica is a lighter take on its predecessor, offers a spicy, fresh scent, punctuated by unexpected spicy elements.

The top notes that hit you first are a mix of blue hyacinth, fig leaf and petitgrain. This symphony of scents introduce the fragrance as a racy and luminous perfume. The heart notes combine grapefruit, spicy cardamom and pink pepper, all tied together with elegant undertones of rose. The base notes consisting of amber, vetiver, cedar, patchouli and woody notes, juxtapose the feminine heart notes, creating a unique scent which lasts long into the day.

After Florabotanica introduced her to the wonders of perfume, actress Kristen Stewart returned again to front the Rosabotanica campaign. Speaking about Rosabotanica, Stewart said “there is something natural about it. It’s very alive.” While the scent carried on the story established in Florabotanica, a scent that was very clean, bare and in your face, this fragrance is more lived-in. The girl who wears it, was more confident and sure of herself.

Talking about the foundations of the fragrance, perfumers Jean-Christophe Herault and Olivier Poige said “the treatment of the flower is way more intimate compared to Florabotanica. We didn’t work the rose in the way one expects, romantic, but [we used it] more for its spiced, spirited and even smouldering aspects.”

Perfect for someone looking for a unique fragrance with personality, Rosabotanica is light enough to wear during the day, and if you are heading out at night, add a few extra spritzes to bring out the heavier heart notes.

Balenciaga Rosabotanica is available from the 9th of March from David Jones and Myer in 50ml EDP, 100ml EDP and a 200ml body lotion.
