Lulie Tavern, an Abbotsford favourite for local pub goers and rock n roll atmosphere, has added a rooftop bar to its already brilliant existing venue. Full Moon Fever ~ Upstairs at Lulie Tavern, has opened to the public just in time for its first Melbourne summer. This addition grows their collection of businesses loved and frequented by regulars, including Kelso’s Sandwich Shoppe just a few shops down.

Located in the prime location of Johnston Street, which is bustling with a range of hospitality offerings, Full Moon Fever is the missing link for Lulie. The rooftop name, Full Moon Fever, is a nod to the great Tom Petty, who adorns the walls and speakers of the tavern downstairs. This is an ode to the rock n roll atmosphere Lulie Tavern boasts. Lulie prides itself on being the ‘every person’s bar’. What’s an every person’s bar? Think of all your classic staples done well, at local tavern prices. This was the vision for both friends and business partners Jon-Lee Farrell and Brendan Kennedy when they first opened Lulie St Tavern (now Old Lulie), a small and DIY neighbourhood bar, in 2015.

The venue will be perfect for year round entertaining. Lounging seats and big communal booths sprawl across the rooftop. The retractable roofing and cosy outdoor wood burner is set to keep rooftop-goers upstairs on those cooler nights. Keeping the heritage of the original building alive, the Lulie team have repurposed most of the original factory building roof they tore down, including huge beams of Oregon timber and Northcote factory bricks.

Lulie Tavern and Full Moon Fever will flow simultaneously. They are a place for large groups of mates to gather in an  inpretentious local saloon bar. Full Moon Fever will feel like the outback saloon extension of Lulie, an open plan rooftop set back from the hustle of Johnston and Hoddle Street.
