BEST BEAUTY MOMENTS AT NYFW

With fashion week season in full force, Couturing takes a look back at the best beauty moments from Mercedes’ Benz New York Fashion Week. Read on to find out how to recreate some of Spring’s hottest looks straight from the runway.

PETER SOM

Drawing inspiration from iconic pop art of the 1960s, Maybelline New York teamed up with Wella Professionals to create the look for Peter Som’s SS15 runway show at New York Fashion Week. Complementing the fashion collection entitled Raw Refinement, Wella Professionals Global Creative Director Eugene Souleiman created a wet, sculpted look that finished with a stylish plait.

The hair was paired with edgy makeup showcasing thick coral eyeliner lining the bottom half of the eye. To recreate this look, prep the eyes with Color Tattoo Leathers 24HR Cream-Gel Shadow in Creamy Beige as a base, applying it onto the eyelid and up to the crease, then below the lower lash line. Next, draw Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in Vibrant Mandarin along the inner corners of the eyes, creating a sharp, graphic edge. Sheen polishes on the face and added FIT me! Concealer applied to the lips toned down the natural colour of each model’s pout – leaving the eyes to do the talking.

Fact: Baby Lips Lip Balm was applied to the cheekbones, eyelids, Cupid’s bow and chin for extra luminosity.

DANNIJO

Showcasing their Spring/Summer 15 collection at New York Fashion WeekDANNIJO kept it simple and fresh with a bold wash of colour across the eyes. Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Brash Blue was applied across the eyelids to compliment the blue and silver accessories modeled during the show. Highlighting the face with Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Cream-Gel Shadow in Barely Branded accentuated the cheekbones, temples and Cupid’s bow. Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light in Warm Nude and The NUDES Palette were used to contour the cheeks and finished the sheen polished makeup look.

DANNIJO NYFW

Opting for a different take on the ordinary pony, DANNIJO worked to a twisted low do for their presentation. The hair was sharply pulled back and sealed into a low ponytail before twisted to another sealed rubber mid length.

COACH

REDKEN Global Styling Director, Guido Palau created a cool, 70’s inspired hairstyle at the Coach presentation. A shimmering sheen cover was accentuated with contoured cheekbones and bushy brows. Dark eyes and chunky mascara completed the makeup look. The side swept hair pulled in front of the face, covered one eye, and was teased at the crown to achieve a natural ‘cool-girl’ look.

To recreate the look, start with damp hair and apply GUTS 10 Root Targeted Volume Spray Foam at the crown and blow dry with a round brush to create volume and texture. Using fingers, create a low, messy deep side part and spray WIND BLOWN 05 Dry Finishing Spray all over for airy volume and fullness. Next, Sweep hair across the forehead, covering one eye, and tuck behind the ear, leaving a small section to fall in front of the ear. Finish with FASHION WORK 12 Versatile Working Spray for hold with movement.
