goof proof

Benefit Cosmetics released its new range of tools to help you create the perfect brow [read more about the range here] and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on products from the range. I have noticed as I grow older that my brows are becoming more sparse so a good brow product is a definite must for my makeup kit. The Goof Proof Brow Pencil ($42) is an odd name when you first pick it up but I have to admit I know why they named it this. No matter what kind of user, you cannot apply this wrong. The angled tip of the pencil is designed for perfect application and you can build colour on the brow to create a thicker fuller brow. The formulation glides on without smudging and has great staying power throughout the day. Apply to fill in gaps and create your shape, then buff with the brush to spread and make your brows look more natural.

For me, foundations are a really big deal. As many readers might know, I’m all about creating the perfect base that lasts the whole day, covers up the imperfections I have on my upper cheeks (freckles and pigmentation spots) and the formula has to be light and easy to apply ( because I am always in a rush in the morning!). The helpful team at mecca suggested I try the new stila Aqua Glow Serum foundation ($67) which is a hybrid formulation that not only helps to create the perfect cover, but also helps to hydrate and perfect the look of the skin.

The foundation is water based so it really creates great hydration for the face and the formulation is silky smooth for easy application. Half a squirt from the dropper is enough to create a smooth base and you can add more to build coverage. I loved the lightweight feel of the foundation and it really did smooth the look of my skin and cover the imperfections I always worry about on my cheeks. The finish isa more dewy finish but the light reflecting particles in the formulation give off a glow that is luminous and fresh. The formulation spreads easily so you won’t have any issue with using your fingers, brush or a sponge to apply.

If you’ve got long hair like me, drying your hair can take ages. You can shave a few seconds off that blow dry time with this nifty product from shu uemura Art of Hair. Straightforward, Time Saving Blow Dry Oil ($48) can help you fasten up the time you spend with your hair dryer. Sprayed onto the palms of the hand and then applied to hair, it actually does make a difference to the time you spend drying your hair. Trust me, I used my iPhone’s timer to measure the time difference and even a minute’s difference is noticeable in your haircare regime! It’s safe to use on colour treated hair and I applied it after I infused my hair with the shu uemura Art of Hair Absolue Hair Oil for hydration (one of my faves).

Available at Adore Beauty and shu uemura Art of Hair salons.
