Australia’s biggest Beauty Vlogger, Lauren Curtis is appearing at Eastland’s Mecca Maxima store between 11am- 2pm today, during the centre’s Autumn Style Weekend. Lauren will take part in a meet and greet with fans and offer tips of beauty trends for the Autumn/Winter season.

Before her appearance, we caught up with her to get the low down on all things beauty.

Tell us a bit about how and why you started Beauty Vlogging

At around the time I started my channel in 2011 I was studying photography, it was my biggest passion at the time and makeup was something I had only just started getting into. As my love for makeup grew, I started thinking about filming the looks I was creating and that’s where it all started. I combined my blossoming love of makeup with my obsession with filming and photography and the rest is history!

As one of Australia’s biggest beauty vloggers, what have been some of the highlights/experiences that this has brought you?

Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. One of the biggest opportunities that stand out to this date was a campaign I did with YouTube a few years ago where they plastered images of me all across Sydney and Melbourne – including on the largest digital billboard in the Southern Hemisphere! It was insane and such a pinch-me moment. I’ve been able to travel to destinations I could have only ever dreamed of visiting and have even been in a Colgate TV ad!

What are some of the key beauty trends you think we’ll see this Autumn/Winter?

I don’t tend to follow beauty trends as I think makeup is very individual, but I think Aussie girls are always embracing the natural, minimal look, with fresh skin, bold brows and long lashes.

What are the beauty products you never leave home without?

Lip balm! I have one in every corner of my house, every bag, in my car, literally anywhere I can put one, haha! I actually hate carrying a handbag so I try to only leave the house with my keys, phone and wallet (and a lip balm close by).

What is your favourite beauty trick you can share with our readers?

One of my favourite tricks is to apply my brow powder or pencil AFTER foundation but BEFORE powder – having the tacky base from foundation allows the powder or pencil to grip to the skin and makes defining your brows a breeze. I find that if my skin is too powdery or dry it takes me at least twice the time to achieve the same result.

If you could pick your top 5 products from Mecca, what would they be and why?

My favourite highlighter at the moment is by Mecca – their Enlightened Powder. It is so beautiful and natural and compliments any look.

My favourite lip balm is also by Mecca, called Lip De Luscious. It has an SPF of 25 and not only hydrated and moisturises my lips but also leaves them looking super glossy and full!

My current favourite blush is by Hourglass’ Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush in Brilliant Nude. It gives the skin the most beautiful natural glow and soft colour to the cheeks.

I’m also obsessed with the Hourglass Vanish Sticks as they provide the most beautiful flawless finish and coverage!

Lastly, the Mecca To Save Face sunscreen is a life saver. It has an SPF of 50+, feels super light on the skin, doesn’t break me out and smells amazing. I haven’t found a better face sunscreen!
