Known as the world capital of perfumery, the Grasse region in Europe has the honour of producing some of the industries most talented scents. Local growers learned to cultivate jasmine, rose, orange blossom and violet in the hills of Grasse and many of the world’s greatest perfumers honed their skills there, perfecting the art of extracting fragrances from beautiful flowers.

To celebrate the region of Grasse and all its beautiful scents, Karine Dubreuil, perfumer for L’Occitane, has created La Collection de Grasse, an exclusive range of scents for L’Occitane. Dubreuil trained at the Roure school of perfumery in Grasse, and used the techniques she learned there to develop the range.

Speaking about her time at Grasse and her work with L’Occitane, Dubreuil said “It was there that I learned to see an ingredient for what it was, without falling into the trap of confusion. You have to be bold with your choices if you want to create an unforgettable scent and capture people’s imagination. Creating such fragrances with L’Occitane feels like second nature.”

When creating the range, Dubreuil made no concessions when choosing her ingredients. Magnolia from the Far East, blackberry from the South of France, green tea from Japan, bitter orange from Tunisia, jasmine from Grasse and Egypt, bergamot from Italy, vanilla from Madagascar and narcissus from France are just some of the components Dubreuil gathered from this unique collection.

The range feature four unique scents so there is something for every taste. The Jasmine & Bergamote fragrance is perfect for the day, with its light, lingering scent great for the upcoming warmer weather. Magnolia & Mure is a beautiful scent for a night out. The heady scent is strong and deep, with an underlying scent of blackberry bringing a tenderness to the fragrance. Vanille & Narcisse is an expressive and vibrant scent, with a sweet aroma, reminiscent of a warm summer’s day. The Vert & Bigarade fragrance is perfect for men and women. This unisex scent has a citrus base which is refreshing and lively, great for a balmy summer’s day or night.

All the scents are long lasting and change as the day or night goes on, with different notes coming out the longer you wear the fragrance.

You can purchase the scents from L’Occitane boutiques and selected department stores.
