Summer is officially here, and to celebrate, The Olsen, one of Melbourne’s top boutique hotels, has launched their very own Pool Club which is set to become this city’s first urban retreat. This oasis is located just minutes from the city, but allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, and relax and enjoy the cool surrounds of The Olsen.

Inspired by the Pool Club culture in New York, Hollywood and Bali, The Olsen Pool Club is bringing a touch of international glamour to the Melbourne scene. Speaking about The Pool Club, Art Series Hotels Communications Manager Beckie Mitchell said “The idea of hosting a pool club came about a few years ago. We were seeing other hotels do it but they were more geared to the party atmosphere. We wanted a place to relax by the pool and staying there for the day with the ability to order cocktails and bites to eat; all without having to move a muscle.”

The Olsen has generously opened up The Pool Club to the public, which means it’s not just guests who can enjoy the sun-soaked rooftop terrace and cooling waters. In true Art Series style, the 25m pool has a glass bottom allowing guests to enjoy the view of Chapel Street as they relax, and can enjoy some shade when the sun gets too hot under a stylishly draped white canopy. Artwork by John Olsen of the Australian landscape frame the walls of the Pool Club, providing a unique backdrop to the chic interior.

As an added bonus, the pool is adjacent to the in-house Norbu Urban Retreat and Spa. Only using high quality organic products, personalised oils and cosmeceutical strength products, it’s the perfect opportunity to spoil yourself and treat your skin.

For those of you looking to get into the spirit of summer, the Olsen’s Spoonbill Restaurant & Bar will quench your thirst, serving custom cocktails such as their trademark Billabong Cocktail made with gin, elderflower liquor and fresh cucumber. If you are after something more traditional, the Sunday Bloody Mary comes highly recommended. For something a little more fun, you can sip on custom cocktails served out of coconuts, stay hydrated with beyond pure coconut water, or sip on a Corona, the official beer partner of The Pool Club.

While you are relaxing, you won’t go hungry with delicious food served poolside from Spoonbill such as Cloudy Bay Oysters, Mini Bugers (Beef brisket/Spice pork belly/Bahn Mi chicken) and a Crunchy Asian Chicken Salad.

Guests can also enjoy the tunes from Resident DJ Danny Bonnici, who will be spinning the decks from 4pm to 7pm.

So if you are looking to escape the heat this summer, make sure you head down to the Olsen Pool Club and treat yourself to an afternoon of relaxation and fun.

The Pool Club is open to the public every Sunday from 1 December to end of February from 2pm to 7pm with a DJ from 4pm to 7pm.
