Myer Miss Shop

Myer Miss Shop has always been a go-to for fast, affordable trend pieces, and last week I was invited to view the latest collection at Myer headquarters, with the room delightfully turned into a whimsical tea party, complete with macaroons. Meeting with the design team, they spoke through the inspiration behind the summer collections – black and white minimalism, digital prints, Aztec embellishments, and a hint of sports luxe – and converted me , a life-long advocate of winter over summer fashion, to embrace the new styles this season.

One of the first pieces that caught my eye was the beach print swimsuit from Milk & Honey. A one piece with moulded cups and an amazing digital print,  it’s a great transitional piece that can take you from the beach to the bar with the addition of a pair of tailored shorts.  The image the print is taken from was actually taken by one of the design team’s members while she was overseas,  the perfect example of how involved the team is in curating and buying the pieces you’ll find on the racks in-store.

A summer staple is a great pair of shorts, and at Miss Shop, there’s many different styles to choose from. My favourites were the monochrome printed shorts by Milk & Honey, the acid wash Aztec embroidered denim shorts from Material World, and the sports luxe joggers from Miss Shop. The Milk & Honey pair are tailored to sit mid-waist, with black in-pockets and trims, and are lightweight to get you through the rising temperatures this summer. The Material World pair are a new twist on the classic denim cut-offs, with Aztec embroidery updating the look, and the Miss Shop drawstring joggers mix style with comfort.

There’s also some great staples available, like the range of Miss Shop Essentials – scoop tees, singlets, and crops – and fashionable work wear from Tokito. My favourite was a on-trend print shift dress; flattering for all body shapes with a hint of luxe with the exposed gold zipper at the back, and doesn’t have to only be worn to work.

Broadening their beauty section this season, Miss Shop have expanded into more cosmetics and jumping on the nail art trend. There’s lipsticks, glosses, shadows, and polishes in every colour in the spectrum, and much to my chronic nail picking self’s joy, stick-on nail decals. Model Behaviour’s Secret Weapon range has expanded also, with wardrobe essentials like double sided tape and stick-on bras restocked, and newer products like the fold-up flats and sole decal stickers rounding out the range.
