500 beautiful black and white photographs of men’s hair styles were plastered on the walls, each begging to be gazed upon and vying to be crowned ‘Star’.

The American Crew ‘All Star Challenge’, held on Sunday night, saw the best men’s hair stylists in Australia present their latest looks in men’s grooming.

The evening, held at Peninsula in the Docklands, Melbourne, was one of elegance and style, and celebrated the talented hair stylists in the country. GQ Editor in Chief, Nick Smith, led the awards ceremony along with presenters including Arthur Galan from Arthur Galan AG, London Management’s Oliver Cavana and Culture magazine’s Jenny Burns and Hayley Miller.

Sofia Azorakos of Sogo Hair (Victoria) won the prestigious 2014 All Star Challenge for the second time. Her entry was awarded for its sleek masculinity, the model’s high tapered hair line, the excellent photography and its superb fashion relevance.

Speaking of her win, Azorakos said, “Winning a second time is just unbelievable…I’m just elated. The look I created was very American Crew- masculine, strong and aesthetically beautiful”.

Besides the title, Azorakos was also awarded with an all-expenses paid trip to compete at the global 2014 All Star Challenge event in Europe, inclusion in the 2015 American Crew Style Selector and an invite to the 2015 American Crew show, with a combined value of $50,000.

The audience were also treated to a dazzling array of the latest hair trends on 30 male models from the Arthur Galan Spring/Summer fashion runway.

Other winners included David Wieselmann of Wieselmann Salon (VIC) who took out the Arthur Galan AG Fashion Award and Moet Tiry of Rokk Ebony who won the Culture Editor’s award.

The model Roman Petrovsky was awarded the London Management Model Award securing himself a two-year modelling contract with the agency.
