I often get asked as Beauty Editor, what my “go-to” products are and funnily enough I’ve been telling everyone lately that it’s Go-To Skincare. I’ve been using two Go-To Skincare products over the last couple of months, Properly Clean cleanser and the Exceptionoil multi-purpose oil, and they really have become core to my skincare regime. Simply put, they are my go-to’s and do an exceptional job at doing what they say they’re going to do.
I was lucky enough to interview founder Zoë Foster Blake when she first launched the range and it was really interesting to get an understanding of the inspiration behind the brand, the premise of having a core set of go-to products which would form the basis of your skincare regime. The mantra of producing a simple and easy to use range of products that use natural ingredients where possible, really has set the brand apart from other ranges that are out there.
I’ve been using Properly Clean consistently for about 3 months and I love it. The cleanser comes in a foam format and two small pumps gives you enough to pop on your face to cleanse with your hands or also works well with a Clarisonic. As the foam is light and airy , I find it really helps to work into my face to cleanse it. I’ve found over the time I’ve used it that my skin not only looks cleaner but feels it too.
The other thing I love about it is that it doesn’t have a soapy or thick consistency and the smell is something I adore, a bit citrusy but subtle (if there were a candle with this scent, I’d totally buy it). If you’re looking for a new cleanser then I would highly recommend this as a great addition to your skincare armoury.
The other product I’ve been using religiously is Exceptionoil. This multi-purpose oil is amazing and has been the perfect antidote to dry wintery skin, transforming it into hydrated, glowing skin. Originally when I first opened the tube, I was a bit surprised at the consistency. It came out like congealed oil into the palm of my hand and I thought to myself “How am I going to use this?” But after a few moments, I saw that the blob I had squeezed out was transformed into a workable oil that spread easily on my skin. The formula is easily absorbed and doesn’t leave an oily or greasy feeling. The effect on my dry skin was instantaneous, my skin sucked in the oil, rehydrating it and leaving smooth skin. Definitely a game changer in my books on how to keep my body smooth and moisturised.
