Ginger & Smart celebrated their 10th birthday in style with a colourful display in their MBFWA runway show held in David Jones in Sydney’s city centre. Models walked the runway with brightly coloured parrot like twisted plaits.

Inspired by the futuristic elements of nature, the collection, titled ‘Neonature’, went from bright, light greens through to muted neutrals offset by on-trend metallics, with flashes of neon thrown into the mix. Backlines were low and often detailed with ruffles, twists and draping. Shoes were bright and strappy, two toned with metallic and bright colours.

“We loved the balance and contrast of raw nature within a future landscape of graphic architectural lines: water that looks like liquid metal, the neon colour of natural gases, the wild colours and shapes of cellular biology and the graphic lines of ferns and blue-bird feathers said Genevieve Smart.

The design duo experimented with silhouettes that reveals flashes of skin in unexpected hidden splits and fold.

The standout piece was a metallic sliver dress worn by Kate Peck to close the show. Flowing like liquid, the dress took on a life of its own as Peck glided down the runway.

A fantastic collection and a great way to celebrate a decade in a fashion. Congratulations Ginger & Smart, here’s to another 10 amazing years in the industry.
