MARIMEKKO MATCHES NATURE WITH PRINT FOR SS15

Finnish design company, Marimekko presented their S/S15 collection recently at Café Paci, a pop-up restaurant by Pasi Petanen in Darlinghurst, Sydney, and showed that traditional summer prints can step to the side, and bold, innovative shapes will take centre stage.

The collection was presented during a model presentation styled by stylist Jesse Hart, and reflects the invigorating feeling one can experience when faced with the force of nature. It creates an escape from the hectic everyday life by bringing elements of nature into the urban environment.

The prints of the collection glow in the shades of the blue sky, cool sand and warm sun. An exciting addition to the print design team, Finnish artist Kustaa Saksi makes his Marimekko debut in the collection with two fascinating patterns that offer a fresh interpretation of Marimekko’s design language.

Stylist Jesse Hart created fashion forward outfits with the use of pattern layering and Marimekko accessories, pairing back each look with a strappy heel.

The contrast of graphic prints and colours juxtaposed with relaxed hair created by Philip Barwick, Redken 5th Avenue Hair Director, and clean minimalistic make up by Tannia Tiropanis, Napoleon Perdis Artist, pays homage to the classic Marimekko look.
