The pouty Queen Bee carries a dark purple lip as her signature makeup look, so it was only a matter of time until Lorde collaborated with makeup masters M.A.C. to create a limited-edition line. The M.A.C. Lorde collection includes two products: a lipstick, and a liquid eyeliner.

The mini collection stays true to Lorde’s simple approach to makeup, which typically sees her sporting her trademark purple lip, a fresh face and a clean, winged liner. The Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack ($32) is a true black liquid liner. With its fine felt tip, the liner provides extreme precision and easy application.

Named after the teen’s critically acclaimed album, the Amplified lipstick in the colour Pure Heroine ($36) is a plum tone that is incredibly rich and deep, but still wearable. The collaboration comes at the perfect time of year, as makeup has been turning towards darker berry tones as winter goes on.

Lorde’s makeup artist, Amber Dreadon, suggests keeping the rest of the face simple when wearing such a strong lip. “Bold lips usually look best paired with natural makeup for the rest of the face… Also, always use a matching lip pencil with the bold lips colour to achieve a clean and symmetrical shape”.

We can look forward to seeing Lorde in her new lippy as kicks off her Australian tour this week in Perth.

The limited edition M.A.C. Lorde collections is available from selected MAC stores and online. For availability, call 1800 613 828 or visit www.maccosmetics.com.au
