I’ve been buying Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk foundation for over ten years and it has never failed me. What has kept me coming back is the finish, the coverage and the buildability. It has always given me that perfect skin-like glow without ever feeling heavy or overdone, and the fact that I can go from two pumps on a quiet desk day to something more polished for an evening out has always made it worth the investment. So when the reformulation was announced, I paid attention.
Why did they change it?
Armani’s R&D team put it plainly: consumer expectations evolve, even for an icon. The new formula is infused with glycerin and niacinamide to hydrate, support the moisture barrier and even skin tone, all powered by Liquid Silk Technology for up to 24 hours wear.
Wearability and Formulation
I’m a chronic face-toucher and my foundation usually pays the price by noon. Not this one. It held up through a full workday without budging, and my scarf came away completely clean. Two pumps gave me buildable, skin-like coverage that never felt heavy. There’s been plenty of chatter about the new formula feeling dramatically different, but I honestly couldn’t pinpoint a big shift. Fresher, slightly glowier, but unmistakably Luminous Silk.
Shade Range and Where to Buy
Some shades have changed with the reformulation, and personally I did find I needed to adjust my shade slightly. So don’t assume your old number carries over. The range has expanded to 44 shades with better coverage across olive and deeper skin tones. It’s worth heading into an Armani counter at Myer or David Jones for a proper colour match, or using the online shade tool if you’d rather sort it from home first. It retails at $124 AUD for 30ml, also available at Adore Beauty and the Armani Beauty Australia website.
