Brows are the only thing you can get into shape without having to sweat it out at the gym. Considering the winter months are upon us and we are rugging up, it’s important that our brows (if not our bodies!) are in shipshape. We asked Benefit Cosmetic’s National Brow Artist Hannah for some great tips for your brows whether you want to shed some strays or bulk up your brow volume.

Condition

Always start by conditioning and treating the brows. Benefit BrowVo! Conditioning Primer is a nutrient rich primer that treats brow hair for fuller looking brows. Worn alone, BrowVo! conditions and smooths brows. Worn as a primer it enhances & extends the wear of other brow products. This conditioning formula contains keratin and soy proteins known to help brows look thicker, healthier and fuller. Consider BrowVo! a protein shake for your arches!

Shape-Up

Finding your perfect brow shape is a great way to get your brows on fleek even if you have little to no brow experience. Think about how you cut things out of your diet to get in shape, well, now we’re cutting out something else we don’t need by waxing off the unnecessary hair around your brow! It’s all about achieving symmetry and balance versus removing too much growth. This is the key to achieving the perfect brow.

Having a professional brow shape regularly will keep you looking pretty, polished, and fabulously put together. If you must remove hair in between appointments then tweeze, but do so sparingly. I suggest only tweezing below or above the brow line- think of everything in-between as the No-zone! AKA: step away from the tweezers.

Strengthen

When it comes to filling in, you want to choose a product that is going to give your brow a STRONG shape and structure. Look for micro-line pencils like Benefit’s Precisely My Brow that actually create those hair-like strokes throughout the brow. Starting at the front of the brow, make gentle flicks upward from the base of the brow towards the hairline. Starting at that base will give you structure and help frame the eyes. As you start to move toward the arch and end of the brow start redirecting those stokes out towards the temple. Next, you need to lock those hairs in place!

Bulk-up

A brow gel is also a great product to help tame brows but also add volume where need be! This helps to lock on the colour and keep those unruly hairs in place. Look at the fullest section of your brows, use that as your guide, and use natural looking brow makeup to add volume where needed. For a quick fix try using a brow volumising product like Benefit Gimme Brow. The formula is full of tiny micro fibres that actually mimic the look of REAL hair. You can build in the drama by letting the formula dry and repeat.
