Celebrity designer Charlotte Ronson has been named as the participant for the 2014 Design Series for Vogue Eyewear, collaborating with the brand and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to create a fun and quirky sun optical range. Taking the timeless cat-eye style and applying a flirty and modern twist with delicate scallop detailing to the oversized frames, Ronson has create a range which is sure to appeal to fashion trendsetters, as well as those with a classic style.

Available in five colours which include burgundy with floral interior, black with a floral interior, pink, mint and tortoise, the range was inspired by the brand’s Global Ambassador, and style icon Eva Mendes. After the success of last year’s collaboration between Nanette Lepore and Emma Roberts, Ronson felt Mendes’ love for 1960’s fashion, and her feminine and ultra-chic aesthetic, made her the perfect muse for her collection.

Talking about the design process, Ronson said “From the fashion ‘it’ girl to the brainy bookworm, I wanted to create eyewear that was universally flattering and that women would want to wear day-to-night. When I first started on this project, I spent a lot of time exploring the brand essence and really took a focus to Eva, who became a natural fit for my muse. I was inspired by her self confidence, sophistication and feminine appeal, which translates into her style so well. I wanted to take each of these distinct characteristics and let them influence the design elements of the frames.”

Speaking about the collaboration, Mariavittoria Di Stasi, Global Brand Director for Vogue Eyewear said, “Charlotte Ronson is remarkably talented and we are excited to welcome her to the program. Her design aesthetic is perfectly aligned with Vogue Eyewear and her vision for the collection was just as exceptional. The optical category is an extremely important focus for us so broadening the offering to include an eyeglass style was a key goal moving forward.”

The range will be available from Vogue wholesalers and from Sunglass Hut stores Australia wide from July 2014 for $149.95.
