L-R: BCBG Max Azaria, Sass & Bide, Victoria Beckham

I’m a sucker for a fabulous jacket, and although I love that Melbourne is shedding the dreary weather, I miss the structure added to an outfit by a blazer or tuxedo coat. Luckily, the cape trend has made a comeback, albeit more tailored than Olsen chic, and is making the transition to higher temperatures a bit easier on me.

I’ve been lusting after Victoria Beckham’s take on the trend from her Fall 2013 RTW collection. An impeccably constructed hybrid of tuxedo jacket and capelet, it’s perfect for a sexier take on the classic suit. BCBG Max Azaria also do a similar version (pictured top left) without the silk lapel for a more downtown look.

The other capelet that is top of my must-have list is Sass & Bide’s ‘The Crossover’. The heavily embellished piece is perfect for adding a little sparkle to an outfit, and ties in with my other favourite trend, white on white. They also have a more subtle version, the ‘18 Shades‘ capelet for a more minimal look.

With many designers including capelets into their collections, there’s no shortage of selection to add that little something extra to an outfit, and they’re perfect for navigating the change in season.
