The new year has brought a wave of SS12 campaigns featuring a range of familiar faces such as Miranda Kerr and Abbey Lee Kershaw, as well as the usual celebrities such as Monica Belluci, Mila Kunis and Michael Pitt. Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen heralds her return to the modeling scene with editorials for 3 key fashion houses. Couturing brings you a summary of the key campaigns for this season.

CHANEL

The stunning seaside Chanel SS12 campaign shot by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Carine Roitfeld is beautiful in its simplicity.

BURBERRY

Actor Eddie Redmayne and Cara Delevingne feature in Burberry Prorsum’s SS12 campaign which focuses on the Parka, the Trench and the Whipstitch bag.

GIVENCHY

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen stars in Givenchy’s SS12 campaign shot in Barcelona by Mert & Marcus. This somewhat dark and edgy campaign also features Riccardo Tisci’s muse Mariacarla Boscono, Chris Moore and Simone Nobili.

DIOR

Actress Mila Kunis joins her Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman in the Dior stable as the new face of Dior’s Miss Dior Handbags SS12 campaign shot by Mikael Jansson.

LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton’s sugary sweet ice cream parlour campaign shot by Steve Meisel featured Daria Strokous and Kati Nescher modelling the lady like designs in front of a backdrop of fluorescent pink curtains and brightly coloured sundaes.

PRADA

Prada’s 1950’s inspired shoot shot by Steven Meisel features, Natasha Poly, Meghan Collison, Elise Crombex, Ymre Stiekema, Katryn Kruger and Kati Nescher, posing seductively around a gas station. The gas station is designed to act as a central symbol in this post-modern crossroads of new horizons and economic fulfilment.

Boardwalk Empire actor Michael Pitt fronts the Prada menswear campaign. Shot by David Sims in a more muted colour tone to the womenswear editorial, it’s rumoured that this isn’t the first time Pitt has been approached by the fashion house to front their campaign. He was apparently approached by Miu Miu to front their non-eventuating menswear line in 2001, but turned down the offer not sure how it would effect his image.

DOLCE & GABBANA

Dolce & Gabbana uses the Italian spirit, tradition, family and love as inspiration for its SS12 campaign. Italian bombshell Monica Bellucci stars alongside Bianca Balti and Simone Nobili in the editorial shot by Giampaolo Sgura.

The menswear campaign was shot with the same theme by Mariano Vivanco. Like the Prada menswear campaign, the images are much more muted than the womenswear campaign.

GUCCI

Gucci are yet to release their entire SS12 campaign but a sneak peak shows Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw and Estonia model Karmen Pedaru in a glamourous soft focus editorial shot by Mert & Marcus. Kershaw is a favourite of the fashion house, previously starring in their campaigns.

VERSACE

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen lands her second SS12 campaign with the blue toned Versace editorial. Joined by British model Ryan Barrett, this poolside editorial.

BALENCIAGA

Balenciaga’s campaign shot by Steven Meisel is an unexpected turn for the brand. A sneak peak shows a simple shoot featuring lesser known models Laura Kampman, Rosie Tapner and Kirstin Liljegren. This relaxed campaign is a refreshing change from the other ultra-glam SS12 editorials.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

Gisele once again stars in seaside editorial beside Noah Mills at the Golden Eye Resort in Jamaica. This photogenic duo looked right at home in the tropical inspired collection.
