Drunk Elephant has become one of the go to skincare brands at Mecca and it’s not hard to see why. The brand has reached cult status with several of its products making the list of Mecca’s Beauty Election for 2020. In fact, my favourite product, T.L.C. Framboos Gylcolic Acid Night Serum was the winner of “Best Serum” in the 2020 Beauty Election and this is largely due to the effectiveness of the formulations to really make a difference to your skin. The brand is committed to use only ingredients that actually directly benefit the skin, meaning actives that deliver results and nourishing ingredients to care for the skin. Formulations are generally sulphate and paraben free and vegan friendly. The latest, E-Rase Milki Micellar Water reflects the brands continued desire to bring products that do what they say they’re going to do.

What is E-rase Milki Micellar Water?

As you can tell from the name, E-Rase Milki Micellar Water is a micellar cleanser that is ceramide rich and formulated to gently remove makeup, dirt, pollution and bacteria thoroughly from the face. The formulation is designed to apply to your face and there is no need to rinse. Founder Tiffany Masterson provides a little note in the box explaining that you can use it whenever and however you want to use it. Whether for a post workout refresh, a colour mistake corrector, a long plane ride cleansing solution, a lazy late night savior or a straight up makeup remover, Tiffany designed E-Rase Milki to be your go to refresh your face.

How I found it?

I have used this consistently over the last couple of months, using it in a variety situations to test out the effectiveness but also how it left my skin feeling after usage.  I used it in the evenings to take off my makeup, for makeup adjustment and also during the day to take my makeup off before exercise.

Three things were standouts for me in using this product. The first is that it was super easy to take off my eye makeup. Literally one swipe of the cotton pad across my lids and it was gone. This is waterproof eyeliner that generally requires a few swipes from other micellar waters so this was definitely a winning result for me. Especially as a more mature woman, I love this as the skin around my eyes is more delicate than it used to be so I appreciated that it required little effort from me to remove my eye makeup.

The second is that it didn’t leave any sticky residue on my skin after use. In fact when I used it during the day to take off my makeup before exercise, I really did notice that I didn’t have to give my face a rinse after use. It honestly feels like you barely used anything on your face which then leads me to the third thing I loved. The fact that after you use it, your skin actually feels hydrated and fresh. The formulation contains ceramides which are known to soothe your skin and help your skin barrier maintain moisture, and wild melon seed oil to help nourish and moisturise the skin.

The one thing that I found mildly trying was the nozzle to get the product out. Not as much control in the amount of product that came out which I found challenging initially. But you get used to the amount of squeeze you give the bottle so it just take a little practice.

Would I buy it again? Considering that it is more than just a micellar water, I would say yes. It definitely shines a light on the continuing efforts by DE to bring out stellar beauty products you want to always go back to.
