As Melbourne gears up for the annual Good Friday Appeal, LaManna (often dubbed the “10,000m² food shopping heaven”) is adding a sweet incentive to its longstanding support of the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The Essendon Fields grocer has unveiled a limited-edition Bueno Lamington Bite, a twist on the Australian classic featuring sponge layered with dark and white chocolate ganache and a hazelnut Bueno filling. In a charitable move, 100 per cent of proceeds from every pack sold between now and Good Friday will be donated directly to the Appeal.
The initiative is part of a broader fundraising effort that includes the Easter Family Festa, set to take place on Good Friday, April 3. While the store itself will be closed for regular trade, the car park will be transformed into a vibrant community hub filled with family-friendly activities such as Easter egg hunts, jumping castles, a mechanical bull, face painting and balloon twisting. Food, drinks and product tastings will also be available, alongside a raffle featuring a range of prizes.
Each child attending the ticketed event will receive an Easter basket packed with treats, while proceeds from all activities on the day will go toward the Good Friday Appeal. Adults are required to purchase a ticket to accompany children, and organisers encourage attendees to flag any dietary requirements in advance.
For LaManna CEO Patrick LaManna, the cause carries deep personal significance. His daughter was treated at the Royal Children’s Hospital for meningitis as an infant and has since made a full recovery. Now seven years old, her story continues to inspire the family’s fundraising mission.
Over the past 15 years, the LaManna family has raised more than $400,000 for the hospital, with a target of $75,000 set for this year’s campaign.
The Easter Family Festa will run from 9:00am to 2:00pm at LaManna, 10 English St, Essendon Fields.
