While everyone else is talking about Leonardo di Caprio’s (much deserved) win, let’s talk about the wins on the red carpet! The SAG Awards are one of the most prestigious dates on the Hollywood social calendar, so it’s no wonder why our favourite style stars brought their A game to the red carpet. Without any more adieu, here are our top picks for best dressed on the night!
10. MARISA TOMEI IN ZUHAIR MURAD COUTURE
From the plunging neckline, to the shimmering emerald hue, to the minimal accessories, we loved Marisa Tomei’s Zuhair Murad look. Extra points for her squared off peep toe pumps and sleek clutch.
9. CHRISTINA RICCI IN CHRISTOPHER KANE
Freshly blonde and stunning in pastel, we loved Christina Ricci’s ethereal look. The embroidery was subtle, yet striking, and the soft lilac colouring made for a stunning point of difference on the carpet.
8. VIOLA DAVIS IN ZAC POSEN
How To Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis also played it on the cooler side, in a mauve Zac Posen structured gown. We loved the dramatic neckline and choice of accessories.
7. ROONEY MARA IN VALENTINO
Simple, yet elegant, Rooney Mara’s Valentino gown was a definite winner on the red carpet. We loved the deep V neck and her sleek hair and make up styling.
6. CLAIRE DANES IN STELLA MCCARTNEY
Showing how two-tone should be done, Homeland star Claire Danes hit the carpet in a Stella McCartney gown. The weighting of the navy against the crisp blue made a flattering silhouette, and made the simple look effortlessly chic.
5. EMILIA CLARKE IN DIOR
Bringing a little colour to the event, Emilia Clarke stood out amongst her contemporaries in muted tones by walking the carpet in a fuchsia Dior gown. By keeping the silhouette simple, the colour was able to shine, and worked to cement her status as a style risk taker.
4. KRISTEN WIIG IN ROLAND MOURET
Leaving the gown at home, Kristen Wiig joined the likes of Susan Sarandon and opted for a pantsuit for her look for the awards. We loved the interesting detail across the bodice, and the tailoring was perfect for her.
3. LAVERNE COX IN PRABAL GURUNG
2016 has only just started, but it’s shaping up to be Laverne Cox’s style year. Taking cues from Beyoncé’s wardrobe, her Grecian Prabal Gurung gown gave drama to her red carpet presentation and was perfectly on trend in oxblood. We loved the subtle cut outs and Angelina Jolie approved split – definitely one of her best looks ever!
2. RACHEL MCADAMS IN ELIE SAAB COUTURE
Nude and lace has been done before, but the volumous silhouette and cap sleeves of Rachel McAdams’ Elie Saab haute couture gown made the look feel fresh – and immediately red carpet ready. We loved her tousled hair and smokey eye against the drama of the look, and by limiting her accessories, she let the dress to the talking.
1. ANNA FARIS IN NAEEM KHAN
Taking out top spot was Mom star (and Mrs Chris Pratt) Anna Faris, stunning in a structured crimson gown by Naeem Khan. The high neckline and sleeves play against the thigh high split, showing us a fresh and interesting silhouette, while her sleek hair and smokey eye added red carpet glam.
