After what feels like a red carpet drought, television’s night of nights brought a fashionable relief for those missing the glitz and glam of awards season. With some of our favourite style stars hitting the carpet, we take a closer peek at our favourite looks of the night!
10. ANGELA BASSETT IN CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
Angela Bassett is an award winning actress in her own right, and at the Emmy Awards last night, she was a winner in the style stakes. In a custom Christian Siriano chartreuse caped gown, the American Horror Story alum looked amazing in the feminine silhouette.
9. EMILIA CLARKE IN ATELIER VERSACE
Game of Thornes star Emilia Clarke took cues from Carrie Bradshaw’s naked dress, and applied it to the red carpet. The shimmering Atelier Versace gown was perfect against her skin tone and the subtle cowl neckline added a touch of sex appeal to the simple silhouette.
8. AIMEE TEEGARDEN IN KAUFMANFRANCO
A newcomer to our list of best dressed, Aimee Teagarden looks effortlessly chic in a monochrome belted gown by Kaufmanfranco. We loved the way the hardware played against the crisp colour of the gown and the statement earrings against the simple hair and make up.
7. LAVERNE COX IN NAEEM KHAN
Laverne Cox’s style status keeps rising, and her turn on the carpet in a golden Naeem Khan gown has taken her from a supporting actress to golden girl. The hue played beautifully against her skin tone (as did her old Hollywood waves!)
6. TARAJI P. HENSON IN VERA WANG
Would we expect anything less from the woman who bought Cookie Lyon to life? Taraji P. Henson’s red carpet status has been solid over the last couple of award season’s and this sleek chartreuse column gown by Vera Wang, it may be her best look yet.
5. EMILY RATAJKOWSKI IN ZAC POSEN
Even though she makes headlines for wearing very little, Emily Ratajkowski has become quite the red carpet star. In a gorgeous royal blue gown by Zac Posen, complete with fishtail and origami bodice, the model slash actress was one of our top picks of the night.
4. SARAH HYLAND IN MONIQUE LHULLIER
Never one to be conservative on the red carpet, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland took a leaf out of Emma Watson’s book and wore a bodice and pant suit by Monique Lhullier. The delicate embroidery and dramatic tails solidified the look as a winner!
3. CLAIRE DANES IN SCHIAPARELLI
Fresh from her best dressed turn from the 2016 Met Gala, Homeland star Claire Danes shone in her golden Schiaparelli gown. We loved the classic cut and simple accessories.
2. NATASHA LYONNE IN SALLY MCPOINTE
A far removal from her prison digs, Orange Is The New Black star, Natasha Lyonne took a dramatic turn on the carpet, in a caped monochrome gown by Sally McPointe. We loved the exaggerated silhouette and classic colour palette.
1. SARAH PAULSON IN PRADA
Ryan Murphy muse, Sarah Paulson opted for an embellished, emerald green Prada gown, complete with plunging neckline. A winner on the night for her turn as Marcia Clark (also her date) in American Crime Story: The People Vs. OJ, she was our winner for best dressed for the chic and effortless gown.
