We’re one week into 2017 and already awards season has begun (can you believe it?!). The 2017 Golden Globes has started off the festivities, with the years most celebrated creatives in film and television putting their well-heeled selves onto the red carpet, ready to be judged – not for their contributions in the past year, but for what they’re wearing. Without further fanfare, here are our top ten best dressed from the night!
10. NICOLE KIDMAN IN ALEXANDER McQUEEN
Nominee on the night and frequent best dressed honouree, Nicole Kidman continued her streak of great event looks at the Golden Globes. Her Alexander McQueen dress was an ethereal standout, with the embellished dress perfectly complementing her skin tone with just the right amount of sparkle.
9. JESSICA BIEL IN ELIE SAAB
Supporting her husband, Justin Timberlake, on the night, Jessica Biel made a statement in a plunging Elie Saab gown. We loved the belted, geographic skirt and the deep v neck bodice easily pushed her into best dressed territory.
8. EVAN RACHEL WOOD IN ALTUZARRA
Who says suits have to be restricted to the men? Westworld star, Evan Rachel Wood showcased a study in androgynous dressing in an impeccably tailored Altuzarra suit. A big risk, but one that definitely payed off.
7. ZOE SALDANA IN GUCCI
Gucci is definitely having a moment lately, one that Zoe Saldana took note of. The whimsical fuchsia gown stood out against the more conservative crowd, and by keeping the rest of her look subtle, Zoe let it shine.
6. MANDY MOORE IN NAEEM KHAN
Singer-turned-actress Mandy Moore is starring in one of the most binge-worthy shows of the year, This Is Us, and walked the red carpet in an equally enthralling Naeem Khan gown to solidify her comeback in. The dark navy was an update on the traditional black gowns we see, and the flowing cape added the extra touch that took it from pretty to showstopping.
5. LOUISE ROE IN MONIQUE LHULLIER
Blogger/presenter Louise Roe is always on point on the red carpet, and we loved her jewelled Monique Lhullier look. The relaxed silhouette was juxtaposed against the embellishments perfectly, and the sleek hair and make up completed the look without drawing attention away from the jewels.
4. DREW BARRYMORE IN MONIQUE LHULLIER
Drew Barrymore has been fairly low key lately, but with a new Netflix show coming soon, she is hitting the promotion trail and what a way to do it! Her stunning, shimmering Monique Lhullier gown (the designer’s second inclusion on this list) elevated her style without leaving her boho roots behind, and her tousled hair added a little cool girl attitude to the polished look.
3. EMMA STONE IN VALENTINO
This awards season is shaping up to be Emma Stone’s for the taking, and as such, her style game is coming out of the gates strong. We loved the soft pink of her Valentino gown, and loved the subtle star embellishments (a nod to La La Land‘s theme, perhaps?) even more.
2. HAILEY STEINFELD IN VERA WANG
A shock inclusion, but one that’s well earned is Hailey Steinfeld in a heavenly lilac Vera Wang gown. The singer-actress is not known for her fashion statements, but the princess silhouette in such a feminine hue was a standout on the night, especially against the more structured looks from red carpet veterans.
1. BLAKE LIVELY IN ATELIER VERSACE
Who else could have filled our number one spot than style queen, Blake Lively? Arriving in a dramatic Atelier Versace silhouette, complete with sculptured hips and shoulders, Blake showed that when it comes to event styling – she rules the red carpet.
After the Golden Globes, the race to the Oscars is well underway – next up, the BAFTAS!
