Rationale skincare, Australia’s top selling medical skin care range, launched its latest clinic in Toorak Village last week with a party to celebrate this new addition to the Rationale family. Founder Richard Parker, was joined by VOGUE Beauty and Health Director, Sigourney Cantelo and talked to guests about the latest developments in skincare science and beauty trends.

Richard talked about his passion for medically based skincare and the evolving Rationale product line. The Essential Six is one of the most ranges, and each product is aptly numbered so that users know in which order to apply product to maximise the benefits to their the skin. With products 1-3 for the day and 4-6 for the night, it’s no wonder that the range has been so popular.

Richard explained that the continuing evolution of his products was helped by the feedback he received from his customers. He used the input in his research to continually improve formulations for new products. In selecting skin care, he said that education is key for all consumers to make informed decisions, which is why each Rationale skincare clinic has specially trained staff to provide relevant and bespoke information to each individual client.

Sigourney talked about the future of skin care and that the focus now in Beauty, is the pursuit of clear skin. Possessing clear skin is now a status symbol, as it represents a healthy life, and she explained that the pursuit of this is now the ‘holy grail of beauty’. Investing in a good skin regime is vital to help rid blemishes and create a good base any makeup that you want to apply.

Sigourney said that sheer makeup will be big this summer with a focus on bright colours on the lips such as electric orange and fuchsia, with a matte, slightly stained finish. . The clean base with statement lips will be amplified with cat eyeliner on the eyes and bold lashes. If statement lips are not your thing, Sigourney suggested that metallics and pearlescent white shadows on the eyes as an alternative.
