Former reality star, current blogger, and always style icon, Olivia Palermo has married her long-time partner, model/photographer Johannes Huebl in spectacular, if not unpredictable, fashion. The simple ceremony was an intimate affair outside of New York, with the complementing bride and groom marrying in front of their close friends and family. Want to go for something a little less traditional for your wedding? We’re here to help you steal her style!
THE (NOT) DRESS:
Opting out of a traditional dress, Olivia looked effortless in a three piece look, all from Carolina Herrera. Styling a simple cream cashmere sweater, white shorts and a full tulle skirt overlay, the look was refreshingly chic and with cinched in waist and centre split, was kept youthful. Her hair and makeup were kept clean and simple, with her hair pulled back and up in her signature ponytail and a clean smokey eye and minimalistic lip colour completed her bridal look.
If Olivia’s simple bridal look is something you want to try for your wedding day look, it’s incredibly simple to piece together. You can find a similar cashmere sweater to hers in most department stores, but we love the Mesmerised sweater by MICHAEL Michael Kors for its simplicity and warm tone. If shorts aren’t on the list for your bridal look, you can achieve the full silhouette with an exaggerated a-line skirt. We love Maticevski’s Famous skirt to recreate Olivia’s look; cinched in at the waist and a perfect length, tuck in the sweater to look effortlessly chic.
One of the quirkiest touches to Olivia’s wedding look was wearing her something blue on her feet. Keeping it classic, she opted for cobalt Manolo Blahnik pumps (coincidentally, the very same worn by Carrie Bradshaw in the SATC movie). To steal her style, we love Jimmy Choo’s patent pointy pumps for a touch of whimsy and style. To complete the look, opt for minimal make up with a classic lip colour like YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture in Rose Carnation.
To keep with Olivia’s simple, chic look, accessories were kept to a minimum. She chose small diamond earrings and a statement bracelet, leaving the attention on her outfit. To steal her style, we love a classic Tiffany bracelet, like this Toggle bracelet to add a little glam to your day. While the overlay of Olivia’s skirt had its own detail, to recreate the look yourself, you can add a belt, like Sophia Kokosalaki’s Swarovski pearl-embellished silk and tulle belt to add a little more bridal feel to the look. While Olivia chose not to wear a veil, if you want to keep the tradition for your look you can add a complementing low sitting veil like this one from Lanvin.
Not the only fashionable member of the Palermo-Huebl family, Olivia was perfectly complemented by now-husband, Johannes, who opted for a bespoke white suit with navy accent pieces. To steal his style, we love the Unstructured Cotton suit from Ann Demeulemeester and complementary tie and pocket square from Jack London.
