What a year it’s been in celebrity weddings! From the over-the-top (looking at you, Kimye), to the downright covetable (Poppy Delevingne’s delightful Moroccan nupitals, Lauren Conrad’s Pintrest-ready ceremony), there’s been no shortage of wedding inspo in 2014. We love a good wedding, so we’re counting down our favourite celeb ceremonies of the last 12 months.
Whether you love them, hate them, or can’t escape them, you can’t deny the draw of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and their wedding was no exception. Marrying in a decadent ceremony in Florence, the bride and groom wore his and hers custom Givenchy couture amongst their 200 closest friends and family (although, were infamously snubbed by Anna Wintour and Beyoncé and Jay-Z!).
After marrying now-husband, James Cook in a traditional wedding in Knightsbridge, England, Poppy Delevingne got the best of both worlds by hosting a second ceremony in Marrakech. A distinctly bohemian affair, the bride wore a non-traditional gown that echoed the beautiful surroundings of the ceremony.
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS & DAVID BURTKA
After a decade together, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka finally were married in Italy (their first vacation together) amongst 50 closest friends and family – including Elton John, who doubled as their wedding singer.
ANGELINA JOLIE & BRAD PITT
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finally made it official at the urge of their children and exchanged vows in a very private ceremony at their private estate Chateau Miraval in France. As always, the Jolie-Pitt’s made it a family affair with the couple’s children all involved in the wedding – most tellingly in Angelina’s veil that was embroidered with drawings created by the children.
Fashion designer and lifestyle blogger, Lauren Conrad and her lawyer fiancé William Tell married after a years engagement earlier last month in a chic and simple Californian ceremony – much like the bride herself! And the wedding, much like her wardrobe, was immaculately styled and immediately covetable.
Once nicknamed the eternal bachelor, George Clooney has been made an honest man by stunning human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, with the two marrying amid a spectacular Venice celebration. Wearing Oscar de la Renta for her walk down the aisle, Amal established herself as a fashion icon and George made the perfect groom in a classic tux.
Former reality star, current blogger, and always style icon, Olivia Palermo has married her long-time partner, model/photographer Johannes Huebl in spectacular, if not unpredictable, fashion. The simple ceremony was an intimate affair outside of New York, with the complementing bride and groom marrying in front of their close friends and family. What we loved the most? Olivia’s unconventional take on bridal wear!
Could we have chosen anyone else for our favourite? Proof that the Knowles’ do everything better than us mere mortals, Solange’s wedding to longtime partner, Alan Ferguson, was a high fashion affair with a cute and quirky twist. Marrying in her adopted New Orleans surrounded by family, the wedding not only proved that Solo is the cooler Knowles sister, but that a wedding is the perfect opportunity to show off your fiercest fashion (I mean, have you seen the wedding portraits?!)
