Dion Lee achieves harmony in polar opposites in his Resort 2014 Collection: ‘Oil and Water’.

The designer continues his exploration of nature, contrasting geometric cut-outs with fluid falling fabric to create a collection both directional and classic. Expect the usual repertoire of statement dresses, daring hemlines and psychedelic prints stunningly executed in Lee’s signature use of micro-neoprene, digital print and unparalleled grasp of structure. Jet black, popsicle orange, royal blue and deep pink form the season’s palette of choice.

The element of water also introduces a capsule swimsuit collection that bears the designer’s hallmark. One could easily mistake the cropped swimsuit tops with their high neckline and criss-cross details for a piece in Lee’s main collection.

Although oil and water’s disdain for each other is legendary, ‘Oil and Water’ comes together perfectly. Dion Lee masters a balance in a collection that is both striking and soft, edgy yet incredibly polished.
