Who doesn’t love a wedding? This month we’ve been looking back on the best fashion had to offer us in 2013, charting the top trends and the best designers, but now we’re taking a look at the best celebrity weddings of the year. From untraditional weddings, surprise ceremonies and interesting gown choices, we salivated over every detail and took inspiration from their celebrations. These are our favourite weddings from 2013.
At the top of the year, Miss Universe Australia, television host, and model Rachael Finch married Dancing With The Stars cast member Michael Miziner at a house on in Woollahra. Rachael wore a stunning Steven Khalil gown, and celebrated with an intimate wedding party of 50 guests. Their wedding wasn’t the only highlight for the couple; their beautiful baby girl Violet born late September.
In May, MTV host Erin McNaught married UK musician Example (otherwise known as Elliot Gleave) at Deux Belettes guesthouse, near Ballina surrounded by 66 guests. McNaught wore a custom Steven Khalil gown and following the ceremony, the Gleaves honeymooned in Tahiti.
Also marrying in May was actress Kiera Knightley to Klaxon’s musician James Righton. The simple ceremony was held at the town hall of the hilltop village of Mazan in the south of France in front of just 11 guests, including Karl Lagerfeld and the members of Klaxons. Kiera wore a Chanel haute couture tulle cocktail dress from the pre-fall 2006 collection, cropped Chanel boucle jacket and ballet flats.
Not such a simple affair was Jennifer Hawkins’ destination wedding in Bali. Marrying Jake Wall after a long engagement, the bride wore a strapless Toni Maticevski gown and was surrounded by no less than 20,000 flowers at the luxury Semara Resort in Uluwatu with 60 of their closest friends and family.
Australian celebrity chef Curtis Stone married long-time love actress Lindsay Price in a private villa on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The four days of festivities included an evening ceremony and a day out on the Mediterranean. Stone baked the carrot wedding cake, which was the bride’s favourite. Price wore a Juliet Vera Wang gown in custom white.
In August, actress Kate Bosworth married director Michael Polish at Rock Creek in Montana in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The bride wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown and embraced the country locale with a hoe-down themed rehearsal dinner.
Model Chrissy Teigen became one in name by marrying long-term partner John Legend in a lavish Lake Como ceremony. The September wedding was attended by their closest friends and family, and Chrissy wore a stunning open back, v-neck Vera Wang ball gown and carried a fragrant bouquet of white and peach roses. She also had another two Vera Wang gowns to change into after the ceremony including a bright red dress. Footage from Legend and Teigen’s wedding featured at the end of Legend’s video for All Of Me.
Also married in September was actress Christina Ricci. Marrying James Heerdegen in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture designed specifically for her by Riccardo Tisci. The couple said ‘I do’ in a private ceremony in New York City.
In October, American Idol alum, Kelly Clarkson married her talent manager Brandon Blackstock in Tennessee in a simple, private ceremony. Wearing a lace, sleeved Temperley London gown, Kelly accessorised her look with a delicate headpiece and a colourful bouquet of gerberas and snapdragons. Shortly after their ceremony, Kelly announced she and her new husband are expecting.
At the end of the year, actress Teresa Palmer married director Mark Webber in a secluded ceremony in Mexico. Stating that they’ve “never been traditional”, they opted to get married before their child arrived, so that he (or she!) would be present at the ceremony. Teresa glowed in a custom Pallas Couture dress and enjoyed their dream wedding with family and friends.
Nearly not making it onto the list, marrying in a surprise ceremony on New Years Eve was actress Kaley Cuoco, marrying fiancé Ryan Sweeting after luring their closest friends and family to a NYE party. Bucking tradition, the bride wore a blush pink Vera Wang gown from her latest collection, and carried the colour through the venue and in her bouquet.
