This Thursday night, the 6th of September, an event is being held at what is arguably the most sophisticated retail store on Chapel Street. For all those who share a similar taste in unadorned clothing, you’ll know that the place I refer to is Plane.
As for the event, let me lay it on the line, it’s all for a short film called A Great Man.
There is already a great deal of buzz about the script. It has won a number of screenwriting awards and I’m privileged to call both the promising writer, Scout Cripps, and the talented director, Josh Dawson, good friends of mine (friendship pending).
Set in a rural Victorian town during the 1960’s, A Great Man is the story of a group of boys who carry out dares for money.
So this is where Thursday night comes in, and possibly you! They need to raise enough money to make this film happen, and are working on putting the ‘fun’ in fundraiser (yup, I just said that). The event is your chance to support this exciting project.
It’s a pretty sweet deal. There will be beer and wine, live music, art for sale from emerging and international artists, not to mention a great opportunity to meet likeminded folk that are actively involved in Melbourne’s diverse art scene.
There will also be an opportunity to bid for a weekend getaway in Daylesford, including entry to both the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa Complex and the award winning Convent Gallery, altogether valued at over $400.
Thursday night from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Plane (143 Chapel Street, Windsor). I’m sure the filmmakers would greatly appreciate you stopping by.
If you can’t make the event but still want to get involved, you can check out the film’s Pozible account here.
